Haematologists Now Based in the Bay 6 Feb 2015

For the past two years following the resignation of the local Haematologist, the Haematology BOP patients have been serviced through visiting clinics from Waikato.

For the past two years following the resignation of the local Haematologist, the Haematology BOP patients have been serviced through visiting clinics from Waikato. This has now changed. In mid January 2015 Dr Marie Hughes started as a full time Haematologist with BOPDHB.

Marie joins us from Scotland, where she has worked as a district general Haematologist for several years.  In addition to Marie,  Dr Gillian Corbett will be joining us later in March. Gillian has, to date, been providing visiting clinics as part of the Waikato Haematology Service so many of the GPs will know her from that role.  Marie and Gillian are looking forward to working with everyone and developing an excellent locally provided Haematology service for our patients.
