Dr. Joanne Cole is a new Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine Consultant. Her current areas of interest for ongoing development include:
- Provision of excellent evidence based emergency medicine care
- Health advocacy to reduce socio-economic and ethnic health disparities
- Medical education
- Team training and high fidelity simulation
- Resiliency and compassion in healthcare
Dr. Laurie Wing is a new Consultant Endocrinologist. Laurie comes to us having completed her registrar years at Auckland and more recently Waikato Hospitals. She has published work around Phaeochromocytoma in Pregnancy and the Inpatient use of Metformin.
Mr. David Bartle spent a number of his Orthopaedic training years at Tauranga. He spent the last 2 years on fellowship, firstly in Edinburgh on a knee fellowship focusing on arthroplasty, realignment osteotomies and soft tissue procedures. He then went to Brisbane on a Spine fellowship focusing largely on trauma and degenerative spine conditions. He has an interest in education as well as disaster relief work with both the NZ Medical Assistance Team and the NZ Defence Force.
Dr. Gillian Corbett will be familiar to many as our visiting Haematologist doing clinics here since 1992. Gillian now has a part-time Haematology position here at Tauranga, although her home is still based in Hamilton. Her interests include low grade malignant Haematology; she has also been involved in a lot of clinical trials particularly in myeloma and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
