National Health Advisory - Confirmed Measles Case with Potential Nationwide Contacts 28 May 2015
The Ministry of Health has been notified of a confirmed measles case who took part in the Sky Tower Firefighter Stair Challenge at the Sky Tower in Auckland while infectious.
ADVISORY SUMMARY:
The Ministry of Health has been notified of a confirmed measles case who took part in the Sky Tower Firefighter Stair Challenge at the Sky Tower in Auckland while infectious.
The case travelled from Palmerston North on 22 May, stopping at Taihape (BP Services) and Tokoroa (Burger King) en route and stayed at the Sky City Hotel on the nights of 22 and 23 May.
The case took part in the Sky Tower Firefighter Stair Challenge on 22 May.
Our current information is that several hundred firefighters and volunteer firefighters from around the country took part in this event.
The case also visited a restaurant, bar and the casino at the Sky City Complex.
The case then returned to Palmerston North on 24 May, stopping at Turangi en route.
Date of rash onset was 27 May and measles was confirmed by PCR on 27 May. The case is considered to be infectious from 22 May.
