Prescription of contraindicated medication
Health and Disability Commissioner Anthony Hill has today released a report finding a general practitioner (GP) in breach of the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights (the Code) in relation to prescribing ketoconazole to an elderly woman when it was contraindicated. The Commissioner also found that the pharmacy that dispensed the medication, and the DHB that later cared for the woman, both breached the Code.
