Regional Māori Health Services - Paediatric Clinic 21 Oct 2016
You may not be aware of this under-utilised part of our local health services.
You may not be aware of this under-utilised part of our local health services. Its aim is to improve access to health care for our Maori population , particularly those in high need and high risk communities. There is a dedicated paediatric team which includes some of the same paediatric consultants present in the Tauranga Hospital plus additional support including social workers. The clinic is located within the hospital grounds.
The key message to remember is that if you think you have a child suitable for this clinic ( ie a child with any Maori descent/ heritage) then inform the family of the service and, with their consent, state on the referral letter that it is directed to RHMS and clearly highlight the ethnicity of the child.
