Our ambulance colleagues have noted that since we started using electronic hospital referrals for acute patients, there have been occasions where the ambulance staff don’t receive a handover or a written letter when picking up the patient at the GP practice.

Our ambulance colleagues have noted that since we started using electronic hospital referrals for acute patients, there have been occasions where the ambulance staff don’t receive a handover or a written letter when picking up the patient at the GP practice. They do require some medical information, so please print a copy of the electronic hospital referral and give to the ambulance staff (there is a ‘print’ button on the Best Practice page- see diagram below).
