Normal Process for Patients Referred Acutely to Hospital 5 Feb 2018
If you are referring a patient acutely to an admitting team or APU/CAU etc, they will go through the usual ED triage process.
If you are referring a patient acutely to an admitting team or APU/CAU etc, they will go through the usual ED triage process. This allows a brief triage assessment, completion of administration tasks, and allows the ability to ensure the receiving unit is ready (and able) to receive the patient appropriately. It is also essential for printing patient labels/stickers/wristbands etc that will be required once on the ward.
It would be helpful if you can help make patients aware of this process, to enable realistic expectations.
Thank you
