The NSW Food Authority has provided an update on the Nutrison Energy Multi Fibre 1000ml product testing.
All batches of Nutrison Energy Multi Fibre 1000ml product that have been tested have now come back as commercially sterile, including the batches No. 06405 and No. 06420 (initially implicated in the investigation).
Hospitals and other customers may now resume use of all batches of Nutrison Energy Multi Fibre 1000ml, including batches No. 06405 and No. 06420.
On 22 September 2015, an National Health Advisory advised that Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition temporarily suspended distribution of Nutrison Energy Multi Fibre 1000ml as a precautionary measure to allow for testing. The decision followed information from a NSW hospital that the product could have been the possible source of bacterial infection in an immunosuppressed in-patient. This suspension was thereafter limited to batches No. 06405 and No. 06420 (National Health Advisory of 24 September 2015). The NSW Food Authority and Nutricia’s own testing confirm now that the products are sterile and safe for use.
