Referring Your Patients to the Speech & Language Therapy Department

Does your patient have a swallowing difficulty? Is it above the sternal notch level i.e. pharyngeal?

Does your patient have a swallowing difficulty? Is it above the sternal notch level i.e. pharyngeal? Don’t forget that Speech and Language Therapy are able to assess swallowing function and arrange a videofluoroscopy if appropriate for both adults and paediatrics.

If high suspicion of pharyngeal/laryngeal cancer exists, please refer to ENT.

For lower, i.e. oesophageal, dysphagia please refer to gastroenterology.
