BOPDHB is establishing a COVID-19 Virtual Ward Round that GPs can refer to. The purpose is to provide a method of discussing non-urgent exacerbations of intercurrent medical conditions due to COVID-19 infection.
Starting on Friday 17th December, you will be able to speak to Dr Kirsten Ramsay, respiratory physician, during dedicated sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 1pm and 2pm. Examples of conditions that may need discussion include exacerbations of heart failure or uncontrolled diabetes mellitus due to COVID-19.
To make use of the Virtual Ward Round during these hours, please telephone the DHB switchboard via 07 579 8044 and ask to speak to Dr Ramsay directly.
If your patient requires admission or urgent discussion outside of these hours, please use the usual process of speaking to the APU consultant on-call and using the acute admission electronic referral form via Best Practice.
Please can we ask for your feedback on the process as you use it? This will help drive quality improvement. You can send your feedback to the GP Liaison team at baynav@bopdhb.govt.nz.
